Community Caregivers of Wyoming County - Attica
Gateway Home Attica, with support from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Funds administered by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, has partnered with A Storied Life to launch a series of free community workshops for family caregivers of older adults across Wyoming County.
The workshops are designed to provide caregivers with resources, honest conversation, and connection with others who understand the unique challenges of caring for a loved one at home.
“This critical, meaningful work is some of the hardest we may ever do. It can be isolating and feel impossible, at times. But it is also a gift that we are privileged to offer those we love.”
— Sara Brunner, Director, Gateway Home Attica
The program creates what organizers call a “safe, brave space” for caregivers to speak openly about their experiences — including the feelings of anger, guilt, and exhaustion that often accompany caregiving — without judgment.
“Many loving, committed caregivers carry anger or guilt because their task is so great. It is important to acknowledge that and extend ourselves compassion. This program will connect caregivers to supports in their community to get them some much-needed help. But just as importantly, they will have the opportunity to share their struggles in a space where others understand.”
— Amber Sastry, Founding Director, A Storied Life
All sessions are free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to register in advance by contacting Sara Brunner at 585-708-4331 | sara@gatewayhomeattica.org
